Jimmy Jean, chief economist at Desjardins Group, talks with the Financial Post’s Larysa Harapyn about the federal government’s fall economic update. Jean said Ottawa’s housing measures don’t address the core issues preventing homebuilding, such as construction labour shortages and permit delays. He also addresses government spending and it may affect the Bank of Canada’s interest rate decisions along with why the country must improve its productivity.
